DR DANIEL BADGER
President ANZSNM Federal Council 2020

After completing a BSc(hons) majoring in Physics and Theoretical Physics, Daniel Badger was awarded a PhD in 2002 with his thesis analysing annual meteor showers such as the eta-Aquarids. This was followed by a research position in Defence Science and then a move to SA Health as a Nuclear Medicine Physicist in 2006, going on to be awarded a Master of Science (Medical and Health Physics) and being certified as a Medical Physics Specialist. Daniel is particularly interested in Radionuclide Therapy and Radiation Safety, helping to roll out Lutetium-177 DOTATATE therapy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2011, Radioiodine therapy for thyroid cancer at Lyell McEwin Hospital in 2014 and Lutetium-177 PSMA therapy (trial) at Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2018. He has been working for some time on a project to harmonise radionuclide therapy protocols across SA Health as well as improving education and training on Radiation Safety. Daniel is currently President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine, and is the appointed Radiation Safety Officer for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital.

A/PROF NATHAN BETTER
Clinical Cardiologist and Specialist in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT

Nathan Better trained in cardiology and nuclear medicine in Melbourne and at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is a clinical cardiologist and Deputy Director of Nuclear Medicine at Royal Melbourne Hospital and in private practice at Cabrini Hospital. He also works in cardiac CT and has a research interest in nuclear cardiology, being part of the executive team of the INCAPS group. He is an expert lecturer at the IAEA and is currently the chairman of the International Advisory Panel of ASNC. He is on the board of AANMS and on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology.

DR NICHOLA NAIDOO

Dr Naidoo completed her specialist training in Australia and New Zealand and a fellowship in Canada before moving to Wellington in 2011 to take up a consultant position. Her sub-speciality interest areas  are genito-urinary cancers, central nervous system cancers, sarcoma, and thyroid cancer.  She has a special interest in brachytherapy for prostate cancer, and stereotactic radiation treatment for brain tumours.Dr Naidoo is also the clinical lead of the Radiation Oncology department at Wellington Hospital, and a senior lecturer at the University of Otago.

DR SWEE TAN ONZM MBBS FRACS PhD

Dr Tan studied medicine at Melbourne University and trained as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in New Zealand. Following a Craniofacial Fellowship at Oxford and Craniofacial Research Fellowship in Boston, he was appointed Consultant Plastic & Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgeon at Hutt Hospital in 1995, where was the Director of Plastic Surgery 2000-2006 and Director of Surgery 2007-2013. With Dr Trevor FitzJohn, he co-founded the Centre for the Study & Treatment of Vascular Birthmarks, a supra-regional referral centre, in 1996, and was awarded a PhD by Otago University in 2001 for his work in infantile haemangioma. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. He is an elected member of 13 national and international medical and scientific societies. He was the past President of the ANZHNCS 2008-2010 and the Founding Chair of the New Zealand Research Foundation of the ANZHNCS. Well-known internationally for his research in vascular anomalies and cancer, Dr Tan is a recipient of 20 science prizes and 25 honours and awards including Wellingtonian of the Year – Science and Technology, KEA World Class New Zealand Award, and ONZM. He is an author of over 190 book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has delivered over 400 presentations at conferences.
