She moved to Rotorua from Auckland in 1999 to become Clinical Director of the Bay of Plenty subcontract of Breastscreen Aotearoa, and to work at Rotorua Public Hospital. Since moving to Rotorua she has continued to maintain her contacts with Auckland Medical School and commutes regularly to lecture. After relinquishing her breast imaging focus in 2016, Barbara has developed an interest in reporting trauma radiology for teleradiology which allowed a three month posting to London last year reporting for New Zealand and Australian hospitals. With over 25 years experience in imaging in obstetrics and gynaecology she has seen the changes that have taken place from ultrasound to MRI – however of all the imaging tools available, ultrasound has always remained her “first love”.While working in a provincial hospital has some limitations, the need to be a generalist and liaise with tertiary centres has been challenging and very rewarding.
