Getting to Wellington is easy, whether you’re travelling by air, road or sea. Wellington International Airport is well served by domestic and international flights by major airlines, while major New Zealand Highways connect Wellington to surrounding North Island regions.

Flying to Wellington 
Within New Zealand - Wellington is less than one hour's flight from New Zealand's main cities, and domestic flights are plentiful.
  • Air New Zealand flies direct to Wellington from most regions.
  • Jetstar also offer flights to Wellington from select New Zealand locations.
Trans-Tasman -  Wellington is easily accessible from Australia, with five airlines flying direct to the city.

Airport Transfers
Wellington International Airport is an easy 15 minute drive from the city centre - with several options available to get you to your destination:

  • An Airport Flyer express bus service runs regularly from Wellington International Airport through the centre of Wellington. The timetable for the Airport Flyer is available on the NZ Bus website.

Catching the Ferry
Wellington is a coastal gateway between the North and South Islands, with regular ferry services taking passengers and vehicles across the Cook Strait. The 3 hour journey is serviced by two ferry companies - the Interislander and Bluebridge.
